The Root Discovery Session
A straight conversation about what your symptom pattern suggests, what would actually be worth investigating, and whether this practice is the right place for it. If it is not, you will hear that too.
Booking takes about a minute. Come with your history, not your paperwork.
What actually happens
Four things, in twenty minutes
You tell the story once
The whole arc, in order. When it started, what changed around that time, what has helped, what made it worse, and what you have already ruled out. Most people have never had the chance to say all of it to one person in one sitting.
We look for the pattern
Symptoms that seem unrelated often are not. The question is whether yours cluster in a way that points somewhere specific, or whether they genuinely do not, which is also an answer worth having.
You get a plain-language read
What the pattern suggests, what it does not, and which of the popular explanations for your symptoms probably do not apply to you. No diagnosis is made on a discovery call.
You leave with a next step
Sometimes that is a program here. Often it is a specific question to bring your own physician, or a test worth asking about. You are not asked to decide anything on the call.
Honest fit
Who this is for, and who it is not
A good fit if
- Your symptoms have outlasted the explanations you have been given.
- You have normal labs and abnormal days.
- You are willing to be an active participant, not a passive recipient.
- You want to understand the why, not just manage the what.
- You are on treatment that helps and still feel there is more to the story.
Not the right place if
- You have a medical emergency. Call 911 or go to an emergency department.
- You are looking for someone to tell you to stop a prescribed medication.
- You want a guaranteed diagnosis or a guaranteed outcome, which nobody can honestly offer.
- You need urgent specialist care that has not happened yet. Get that first.
On medication. Nothing in this practice asks you to stop or change a prescription. That decision belongs to you and your prescribing clinician, and a good functional plan works alongside it rather than against it.
Before you book
How to make the twenty minutes count
- Take the assessment first. It maps your symptoms across systems and gives the conversation a starting point instead of a blank page.
- Bring a rough timeline. Even approximate dates help. When it started, what else was happening in your life that year.
- Know your current list. Medications and supplements you actually take, including the ones you take inconsistently.
- Bring recent labs if you have them. Not required, and not having them is never a reason to delay booking.
- Write down your one question. The thing you most want answered. It keeps the call from drifting.
Questions
Common questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The Root Discovery Session has no cost and no card required. It exists because deciding whether a program fits should not require paying to find out.
Will I be diagnosed on the call?
No. A discovery session is a conversation about patterns and next steps, not an evaluation. Diagnosis requires appropriate examination and testing, and often belongs with a different type of provider entirely.
Do I need to have taken the assessment?
Not required, though it makes the call substantially more useful. Twenty minutes goes quickly, and starting with a map beats starting from scratch.
Will I be pressured into a program?
No. Plenty of these calls end with a suggestion to go back to your own physician with a specific question, because that is genuinely the right next step. A program that is not a fit helps nobody.
What do the programs cost?
It depends on what you actually need, which is exactly what the discovery session establishes. Pricing is discussed openly once the scope is clear, and payment plans are available. You will never be quoted a number before anyone understands your situation.
Do you take insurance?
Bring this question to your session. Coverage varies by plan and by what is actually being provided, and a straight answer for your specific situation is better than a general one here.
Can you work with me if I am not local?
Ask on the call. What can be offered remotely depends on the type of care and on the licensing rules for your state, and that is worth getting right rather than assuming.
