About

Built for the people who kept getting sent home

Root Cause Unlocked is the educational arm of Root Health NC. It exists because of a pattern that shows up over and over: someone arrives after years of appointments, with a folder of normal results and a life that has quietly gotten smaller.

Adam Seay, D.C.

Adam Seay is a chiropractic physician practicing in North Carolina and the clinician behind Root Health NC. The work is functional and structural, and it is built on a habit that sounds obvious and is surprisingly rare: taking the entire history, in order, before deciding what anything means.

Most people who end up here have not been failed by any one provider. They have been seen by several, each looking carefully at one piece, with nobody holding the whole picture. The gap is not effort or competence. It is that nobody owns the assembly.

What a D.C. is and is not. A chiropractic physician is not a replacement for your primary care provider, your endocrinologist, your gastroenterologist, or your rheumatologist. This practice does not diagnose disease in place of those clinicians and does not manage your medications. It works alongside them, and it will tell you plainly when something belongs somewhere else.

How this practice thinks

Five commitments

Your story is data

The timeline of what happened and when is usually more informative than any single panel. It is treated that way here, not rushed past on the way to a test.

Tests answer questions

A test worth running is one where the result changes what happens next. Testing that only produces more paper is not thoroughness, it is expense.

Uncertainty gets said out loud

Some of this is well established and some of it is genuinely contested. You will be told which is which rather than having confidence performed at you.

Medication is not the enemy

Plenty of people here take prescriptions that help. Nothing in this practice asks anyone to stop one. Those decisions belong to you and your prescriber.

You should understand your own case

If you cannot explain your situation to the next provider you see, the education part did not happen. That is the actual deliverable.

No is a real answer

If this is not the right place for what you are dealing with, you will hear that on the first call rather than after you have paid for something.

The name

Why "root cause"

The phrase gets overused, so it is worth being precise about what it means here. It does not mean there is always one hidden cause waiting to be found, and it does not mean every symptom resolves once you locate it. Some things are multifactorial. Some things are managed rather than solved.

What it does mean is that "your labs are normal" is a description, not an explanation, and that the distance between those two is where most of the useful work lives. Unlocking is the right image. Not a cure, and not magic. A door that has been stuck, and the specific thing that opens it.

Start wherever makes sense

The assessment if you want to see your pattern first. The discovery session if you would rather just talk it through. Both are free.
